Baseball Game Preview: Channel Islands Raiders vs. Malibu Sharks

The Channel Islands Raiders will face off against the Malibu Sharks at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Channel Islands has three straight wins, Malibu has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Friday, Channel Islands was able to grind out a solid victory over Fillmore, taking the game 4-1.

Channel Islands' win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Robert Lopez, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI. Another was Andrew Chavez, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Meanwhile, Malibu lost 16-2 to Hueneme on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Sharks have suffered against the Vikings since February 15, 2023.

Malibu's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Channel Islands, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7.

Channel Islands skirted past Malibu 3-1 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Will Channel Islands repeat their success, or does Malibu has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
