With a playoff win on the line, North Florida Christian rose to the challenge  on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the St. John Paul II Panthers as they made off with  a  9-2 win. Considering the Eagles have won nine matchups by more than six  runs this season, Tuesday's  blowout was nothing new.
 Gabrielle Hughes and  Skylar Young made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound,  Hughes   tossed 2.2 innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. Meanwhile,  Young   didn't allow a single  earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate,  Hughes  went a perfect 2-for-2 with three  runs and one  RBI, while  Young  went 1-for-3 with two  stolen bases and two  runs. That's the most  runs  Hughes has posted since back in April of 2024.
 In other batting news,  Allison Townley was  excellent,  going 2-for-3 with two  stolen bases, two  runs,  and one  RBI. That's the most  stolen bases  she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was  Brynlee Pafford, who  went 1-for-3 with two  runs and one  RBI.
North Florida Christian pushed their record up to 15-8 with the  victory, which was their fourth straight  at home. The  home  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for St. John Paul II, they now  have a losing record of 12-13.
 Looking ahead, North Florida Christian will challenge University Christian at 6:30  p.m.  on Thursday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Christians have averaged an impressive 10.7  runs per game this season. St. John Paul II does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
