Basketball Game Preview: Desert Edge Scorpions vs. Fairfax Stampede + Official Tickets

The Desert Edge Scorpions will head out on the road to square off against the Fairfax Stampede at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Desert Edge has given up an average of 50.2 points per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Desert Edge saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a 58-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of ALA - Queen Creek.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was CJ Johnson, who went 6-for-12 on his way to 14 points. Another player making a difference was Jude Ramirez, who posted ten points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Fairfax had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.2 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 71-65 W against the Mustangs. While the Stampede didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Desert Edge's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Fairfax, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Desert Edge strolled past Fairfax in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a score of 64-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Scorpions since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
