Football Recap: Fossil Ridge Piles Up the Points Against Prairie View + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fossil Ridge). They claimed a resounding 42-0 victory over the Prairie View Thunderhawks. The win continues a trend for the SaberCats in their matchups with the Thunderhawks: they've now won five in a row.

A big part of Fossil Ridge's victory came down to the chemistry between Colton Jantz and his top target Eli Swanson. Jantz threw for 311 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.1% of his passes while Swanson gained 176 total yards and four touchdowns. With that strong performance, Swanson is now averaging an impressive 104.6 receiving yards per game. Another player making a difference was Caleb Camping, who picked up 119 receiving yards and one TD.

One reason for the win was Fossil Ridge's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Leading the way was Bron Southworth with three. Cohen Saunders was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making six total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Fossil Ridge's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Prairie View, their loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fossil Ridge will host Fairview at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The SaberCats will need to watch out since the Knights have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Prairie View, they will be playing at home against Rocky Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
