Baseball Recap: Kingsway Triumphs

Kingsway proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by six) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Washington Township Minutemen 6-5. The win continues a trend for the Dragons in their matchups with the Minutemen: they've now won six in a row.

Killian McCaffrey tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, Austin Schmidt was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. He also scored a run, marking his first of the season.

Kingsway's victory bumped their record up to 4-2-1. As for Washington Township, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Kingsway will take on Deptford in a tournament on Saturday. As for Washington Township, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gloucester County Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
