Soccer Recap: Mattoon Comes Up Short

Mattoon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Champaign Central Maroons. If Mattoon were looking for revenge after losing 2-1 to Champaign Central when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Mattoon now has a losing record of 2-3-1. As for Champaign Central, the victory got them back to even at 2-2-1.

Coming up, Mattoon will square off against Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Westville at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Champaign Central, they will take on Springfield at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
