Volleyball Recap: Gabby Pinno and Scarlett Nitz Secure Win for Laconia

Laconia waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Lomira Lions as they made off with a 3-0 victory. The Spartans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lions, too.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Laconia took every set by at least 13 points. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-8, 25-9.

Laconia was led to victory by Scarlett Nitz and Gabby Pinno. Nitz had five digs and four aces, while Pinno had ten assists and three digs. Those five digs gave Nitz a new career-high. Josie Basler also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

They weren't the only good server: Laconia was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in three consecutive contests.

Laconia's record now sits at 7-2. As for Lomira, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Laconia has already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Oshkosh North on the 13th. As for Lomira, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Rhinelander on the 13th.
