Recap: Palm Harbor University Hurricanes vs. Northeast Vikings
The Palm Harbor University Hurricanes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 20 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Northeast with a sharp 60-40 win on Monday. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-15.
Palm Harbor University found their leader in underclassman Drew Marion, who scored 20 points. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for her. Devyn Lavelle was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Several Vikings players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jy'Aira Washington, who scored 18 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was McKinley Joseph, who scored 11 points.
Palm Harbor University is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for Northeast, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palm Harbor University will take on Seminole at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Seminole focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Monday. As for Northeast, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Boca Ciega at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Boca Ciega will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
