Basketball Game Preview: Hawken Hawks vs. Perry Pirates

The Hawken Hawks will head out on the road to square off against the Perry Pirates at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Hawken strolled past Chagrin Falls with points to spare, taking the game 49-33. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 146th, while the Tigers are ranked 415th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Perry beat Harvey 64-59 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Perry's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.9 points per game. As for Hawken, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Hawken strolled past Perry when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a score of 62-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hawken since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
