Softball Recap: Attica Comes Up Short

Attica extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 3-15. They lost 20-0 to the Seeger Patriots. Surprisingly, this marked the sixth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

As for Seeger, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-10. Considering they have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Seeger's part, Lyla Badger and Zoe Thomas were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Badger pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Thomas tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Badger has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Badger got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one double, while Thomas went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three runs gave Thomas a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lainie Serie, who fired off three home runs, eight RBI, and one stolen base while going 3-for-4. Those three home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sydney Stephen, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.

Coincidentally, Attica and Seeger will both be playing Riverton Parke the next time they take the field. The Red Ramblers will head out to face the Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Patriots will play them later in the day, at 7:30 p.m.
