Basketball Recap: Morningside Academy Takes a Loss

Morningside Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They came up short against the Bayside Bears on Monday, falling 48-22. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Morningside Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Arianah Wallace dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards. Wallace has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Emmilina Miller, who posted four points.

Emilia Grant continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Bayside, dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten boards. Those 20 points gave Grant a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelina Spence, who put up six points in addition to seven assists and five boards.

Morningside Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Bayside, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

Morningside Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 55-22 win against Tradition Prep on the 17th. As for Bayside, they will take on Melbourne in a tournament on Friday.
