Basketball Game Preview: Rancho Cotate Cougars vs. Piner Prospectors

Rancho Cotate hasn't had much luck against Piner recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Cougars will be playing at home against the Prospectors at 7:30 p.m. Rancho Cotate knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Piner likes a good challenge.

On Wednesday, Rancho Cotate was able to grind out a solid win over St. Vincent de Paul, taking the game 63-55. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 26-26 at halftime, Piner was not quite Healdsburg's equal in the second half on Wednesday. They took a 65-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Greyhounds.

Rancho Cotate's win bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Piner, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14.

Rancho Cotate was able to grind out a solid victory over Piner in their previous meeting two weeks ago, winning 60-53. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Prospectors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
