Baseball Game Preview: Memorial Mavericks vs. Wylie Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Memorial will face off against Wylie. The Mavericks will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Memorial 2.7, Wylie 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Memorial fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Wylie on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 4-3.

For Wylie's part, Colby Garrett was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave Garrett a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

Garrett wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Regala, who scored a run while going 3-for-5. Ty Briscoe was another, going 1-for-4 with two RBI.

Wylie pushed their record up to 14-4-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Memorial, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-7.
