Baseball Game Preview: St. Charles East Fighting Saints vs. Geneva Vikings

For the second straight game, St. Charles East will face off against Geneva. The Fighting Saints will head out to face off against the Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Charles East is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

St. Charles East managed to slip by Geneva the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Fighting Saints came up short against the Vikings on Tuesday, falling 10-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Fighting Saints have suffered since April 23rd.

For Geneva's part, Owen Miller looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Miller has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Noah Hallahan, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Nelson Wendell also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Geneva and bumps their season record up to 20-9. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for St. Charles East, their loss dropped their record down to 12-14.
