Softball Recap: Morgan Wins Going Away Against Stansbury

After losing to Stansbury the last time they met, Morgan decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Trojans blew past the Stallions 12-2 on Saturday. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by eight runs or more this season.

Callie Averett made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Averett was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Joesi Kelly was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Lexi Hardman was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Morgan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 13 consecutive matches.

Morgan is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Stansbury, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-10.

Morgan has already played their next contest, a 5-2 win against Sky View on the 26th. As for Stansbury, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 6-0 loss against Bountiful on the 26th.
