Baseball Recap: Brandon Comes Up Short

Brandon was the 8-7 winner over Middleton when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. Brandon fell just short of Middleton by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. Eagles fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Tigers since on Saturday.

Francis Ovalles put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

Ovalles wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Charles Revi Rodriguez, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Brandon's defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Middleton, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brandon will host Riverview at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Brandon's pitchers better be ready for this one: Riverview has averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Middleton, they will welcome Armwood at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
