Gateway Christian gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They secured a 40-36 W over the Tidewater Academy Warriors. This was payback for Gateway Christian, who suffered a 52-40 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Tidewater Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aydan Phillips, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds. Conner Fillmore was another key player, putting up nine points along with eight boards and three blocks.

Looking ahead, Gateway Christian will face off against Rock Church at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Tidewater Academy, they will challenge Pungo Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
