Northfield and Austin are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2017, but likely not for long. The Raiders are taking a road trip to square off against the Packers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Northfield's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Austin's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Northfield is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Red Wing just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Wingers by a score of 4-3. The contest marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Austin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of Albert Lea.

John Rollie put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. Rollie was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. That run marked the first that he scored this season.

In other batting news, Casey Denzer was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Noah Dunlap was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Northfield's record now sits at 3-2. As for Austin, their record is now 1-4.

Northfield took their victory against Austin in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 15-3 score. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Packers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
