Basketball Preview: Calhoun Tigers vs. Ellwood Christian Eagles
The Calhoun Tigers will be playing at home against the Ellwood Christian Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Calhoun's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while the Eagles have been banged up by 17 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
Even though Greenville scored an imposing 56 points on Friday, Calhoun still came out on top. Calhoun walked away with a 65-56 win over the Tigers.
Calhoun got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kentavius Loftin out in front who scored 13 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Loftin has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ladarrius Thigpen, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Ellwood Christian was beaten by the Lions 78-47 on Monday.
Calhoun is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Ellwood Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-21.
Everything came up roses for Calhoun against the Eagles in their previous meeting last Thursday as the team secured a 97-38 win. With Calhoun ahead 45-19 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
