Basketball Recap: Leroy Piles Up the Points Against Fruitdale

The third road match was the charm for Leroy, as they earned their first road win of the season. They took their contest on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 68-36 win over the Fruitdale Pirates. The Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 21 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Leroy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cory Yelder, who went 6 for 12 en route to 18 points and seven steals. Yelder is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Ian White was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine boards.

Leroy was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Leroy's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-6. As for Fruitdale, they are on a 33-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Leroy has already played their next matchup, a 46-36 win against McIntosh on the 16th. As for Fruitdale, they will face off against Southern Choctaw at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Southern Choctaw is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.9 points per game this season.
