Football Recap: Oxnard's Undefeated Season over After Six Games

After some red-hot attacks on offense in their last five contests, Oxnard finally came back down to earth on Thursday. They fell 25-12 to the Camarillo Scorpions. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Scorpions are ranked third).

Although Oxnard took the loss, they still got scores from Jazzlene Dominguez and Ryanna Harris.

Oxnard's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Ameerah Phillips and Harris, who each picked up one interception apiece.

Jaeah Blaney continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Camarillo, throwing for 209 yards and four TDs. Blaney has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times she's played.

Having lost for the first time this season, Oxnard fell to 5-1. As for Camarillo, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Oxnard has already played their next game, a 32-6 victory against Agoura on the 23rd. As for Camarillo, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 26-8 win against Rio Mesa on the 23rd.
