Baseball Recap: West Deptford Extends Winning Streak to Three

West Deptford had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came out on top against the Gateway Regional Gators by a score of 8-5. While the Eagles didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Landon Delaney was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cole McKenna, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Caleb Delaney, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

West Deptford's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Gateway Regional, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
