Basketball Recap: Bangor Triumphs

If Palisades wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Bangor, they should've done a better job of containing Avery Nelson. The Bangor Slaters enjoyed a cozy 45-31 victory over the Palisades Pirates on Saturday thanks in part to Nelson, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it ten consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Bangor's points.

Another player making a difference was Kaylynn Figurski, who posted nine points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in steals.

The win got Bangor back to even at 5-5. As for Palisades, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bangor will take on Jim Thorpe at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Palisades, they will face off against Catasauqua at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday.
