Volleyball Recap: Sanger Comes Up Short

Sanger was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Clovis East Timberwolves. The Apaches were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Timberwolves earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

Clovis East's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Keniah Verduzco led the charge by getting six digs and two aces. Verduzco is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Anna Cheatham, who had 11 digs and two aces.

Sanger's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Clovis East, their record is now 5-7.

Looking ahead, Sanger will venture away from home to face off against Frontier at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Clovis East, they have already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Fresno Christian on the 13th.
