Westlake's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over the Bowie Bulldogs. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Chaparrals have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Westlake's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-2-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8 runs. As for Bowie, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.

Westlake and Bowie should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Chaparrals will take on Anderson at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (15 vs. 330). Meanwhile, Bowie (ranked 258th) will meet Akins (ranked 980th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
