Basketball Recap: Central Comes Up Short

It was a good run, but Central unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a blow against the Hardin County Tigers, falling 61-29. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since December 19, 2024.

Central's loss came despite strong showings from Isla Hardy and Jill Huffaker. Hardy went 7-for-14 en route to 16 points along with five boards and three steals, while Huffaker posted six points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Hardy has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played.

Central's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Hardin County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Coming up, Central will take on Deshler at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats' defense better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 72 points per game this season. As for Hardin County, they will face off against Riverside at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
