Football Game Preview: Philip Scotties vs. New Underwood Tigers

The Philip Scotties will head out on the road to challenge the New Underwood Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Philip has five straight victories, New Underwood has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Philip is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of South Dakota's top teams: Lyman, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Philip was ranked seventh). The Scotties secured a 48-44 W over the Raiders on Friday.

Meanwhile, New Underwood was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 20-16 to Jones County.

New Underwood's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Philip, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

Philip took their victory against New Underwood in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 46-24 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Scotties since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
