Basketball Recap: Currituck County Takes a Loss + How To Watch

If Currituck County was feeling good fresh off their 78-44 takedown of Holmes on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Knights took a hard 84-70 fall against the South Central Falcons on Friday. The matchup marked the Knights' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Defeat or not, Currituck County got some senior leadership from Tristan Peterson and Jamie Dance. Peterson shot 54% from the field en route to 23 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Dance posted 18 points. Dance's big performance that evening made it 18 games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Holden Pickering, who put up four points in addition to four blocks and three steals.

Jordan Haddock was nothing short of spectacular for South Central: he went 5-for-6 to rack up 26 points. Haddock is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Christian Heath, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 14 points and three steals.

Currituck County's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for South Central, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Currituck County will venture away from home to square off against Gates County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for South Central, they will head out to face off against Fike at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
