Softball Game Preview: Shelley Russets vs. Madison Bobcats

The Shelley Russets will venture away from home to challenge the Madison Bobcats at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Shelley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.

Last Wednesday, Shelley came up short against Blackfoot and fell 6-3. The Russets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Carlie Hurd made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played.

Meanwhile, Madison got their first taste of in-conference action on Wednesday and they started things off strong. They put the hurt on Highland with a sharp 11-4 win. Considering the Bobcats have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Madison's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-7. As for Shelley, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.

Shelley might still be hurting after the 19-0 loss they got from Madison in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Russets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
