Preview: Winnfield Tigers vs. Mansfield Wolverines
Winnfield has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Mansfield Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Winnfield has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 745 points over their last 11 matchups.
Winnfield posted their biggest win since November 30, 2023 on Friday. They put the hurt on Many with a sharp 80-54 win. Given Winnfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th, while Many is ranked 290th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Winnfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cl Davis led the charge by scoring 17 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylon Jackson, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Mansfield fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They strolled past Jonesboro-Hodge with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 67-51.
Winnfield has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Mansfield, they pushed their record up to 6-13 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Winnfield beat Mansfield 62-49 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Will Winnfield repeat their success, or does Mansfield have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
