Football Game Preview: Ford Panthers vs. Ferris Yellowjackets

The Ford Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Ferris Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Ford's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

Ford's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They really took it to Wills Point for the full four quarters, racking up a 42-0 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Panthers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 372nd, while the Tigers are ranked 839th).

Ford found their leader in sophomore Devon Williams, who rushed for 123 yards on only six carries. Williams' rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 116 rushing yards.

Ford's run defense was locked in: Wills Point could only muster 1.8 yards per carry. While four picked up at least two total tackles, Williams stood above the rest. He rushed for 123 yards on only six carries. Ford didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 10.8.

Meanwhile, Ferris lost to Sunnyvale at home by a 48-30 margin on Friday. The Yellowjackets have struggled against Sunnyvale recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Ford's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 47.2 points this season. As for Ferris, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Everything came up roses for Ford against Ferris when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 49-22 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
