Softball Recap: Holly Hill Academy Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Calhoun Academy, Holly Hill Academy was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Cross Stingrays a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won six games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Taylor Wright made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Wright was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Kaylee Brabham was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Milly Kate Prescott was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Holly Hill Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in 13 consecutive matches.

Holly Hill Academy pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Cross, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.

Coming up, Holly Hill Academy will look to defend their home field on Friday against Jefferson Davis Academy at 7:00 p.m. As for Cross, they will challenge Battery Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
