The Maricopa Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Flowing Wells Caballeros at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Maricopa is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Last Friday, Maricopa was able to grind out a solid victory over Ironwood Ridge, taking the game 21-14. The victory was just what Maricopa needed coming off of a 42-14 defeat in their prior match.
The critical scores for Maricopa came from Nate Barlow, Izaac Lopez, and Max Gambino.
Meanwhile, Flowing Wells' four-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They breezed by Nogales on the road to the tune of 42-0.
Josyah Monarrez went supernova for Flowing Wells, rushing for 152 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, while also picking up 55 receiving yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Simmons, who rushed for 69 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries.
Their wins bumped Maricopa to 4-5 and Flowing Wells to 2-7.
Maricopa beat Flowing Wells 37-30 when the teams last played back in October of 2014. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Flowing Wells' Julio Sandoval, who threw for 170 yards and two touchdowns. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Maricopa to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
