Basketball Game Preview: Roosevelt Teddies vs. North Community Polars

Roosevelt hasn't had much luck against North Community recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Roosevelt Teddies will welcome the North Community Polars at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Roosevelt comes in on three and North Community on seven.

Roosevelt is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Lakes International Language Academy 98-51 on Friday. The Teddies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 27 points or more this season.

Roosevelt had a senior duo take command as Izaiah Freeman dropped a double-double with 25 points and 16 rebounds and Steven Hunter to rack up 26 points along with five assists and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Freeman has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Obie E Esparza, who on his way to 16 points and eight boards.

Roosevelt smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, North Community narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Washburn 71-69.

Roosevelt pushed their record up to 15-9 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.1 points over those games. As for North Community, their victory bumped their record up to 16-7.
