Baseball Recap: Cortez Takes a Loss

Cortez was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 18-6 to the Desert Sunrise Golden Hawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-2 last Tuesday.

Julian Cabrera was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Kriztian Visuet, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Cortez's loss dropped their record down to 3-13-1. As for Desert Sunrise, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-5-1.

Looking ahead, Cortez will be taking part in a tournament against Westview at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.6 runs per game on average), something the Colts will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Desert Sunrise, they will take on Tempe at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
