Baseball Recap: Lytle Find Success

Lytle won the last time they faced Crystal City and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Pirates skirted past the Javelinas 8-6.

Toby Davila made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Lytle: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 9-11 otherwise.

Davila wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Damien Barco, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Barco a new career-high in doubles (two).

Lytle now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Crystal City, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-8.

Lytle wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 6-4 win against Natalia on the 4th. As for Crystal City, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 14-3 victory against Dilley on the 4th.
