Basketball Recap: Naselle Takes a Loss

Naselle lost against Willapa Valley back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Naselle Comets fell to the Willapa Valley Vikings 44-39. While the Comets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Vikings 16-7 in the first quarter.

Willapa Valley found their leader in freshman Tylar Keeton, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 16 boards. Willapa Valley is 7-1 when Keeton posts 15 or more points, but 6-9 otherwise. Addison Merkel was another key player, putting up 13 points and five rebounds.

Naselle's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Willapa Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season.

Naselle does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Willapa Valley, they will host Mary M. Knight at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
