Soccer Game Preview: San Diego vs. Poway

The San Diego Cavers will square off against the Poway Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. San Diego's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

San Diego fell victim to St. Augustine and their airtight defense on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to the Saints. While losing is never fun, the Cavers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 171st, while the Saints are ranked 21st).

Despite a strong season so far, Poway has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of San Pasqual. That's two games in a row now that the Titans have lost by just one goal.

Poway's loss dropped their record down to 10-4-3. As for San Diego, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5-2.

San Diego beat Poway 3-1 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Does San Diego have another victory up their sleeve, or will Poway turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
