Softball Recap: Westmont Hilltop Extends Road Winning Streak to Five

Westmont Hilltop hadn't done well against Richland recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Hilltoppers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Rams a 9-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the Hilltoppers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

The team relied heavily on Abby Rozich, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsie Muto, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs.

Westmont Hilltop's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Richland, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westmont Hilltop will welcome Forest Hills at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rangers will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Hilltoppers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Richland, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bishop Guilfoyle at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
