Basketball Recap: Tonopah Valley Comes Up Short

Tonopah Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They took a 34-19 bruising from the Chino Valley Cougars. If the Phoenix were looking for revenge after losing 37-32 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Tonopah Valley saw an underclassman step up: freshman Natalie Bolton posted five points and 17 boards. With that strong performance, Bolton is now averaging an impressive 8.7 rebounds per game. Kiamora Melton also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Even though they lost, Tonopah Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Tonopah Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Chino Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 5-11.

Tonopah Valley has already played their next game, a 48-14 loss against Kingman on the 25th. As for Chino Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 57-40 defeat against Kingman Academy on the 27th.
