With a playoff win on the line, Cobre rose to the challenge on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Sandia Prep Sundevils an 18-0 shutout. The Indians are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 13 straight.

Bella Saiz made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cobre let Ayvah Ortiz and Madi Tellez run wild. Ortiz fired off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-3, while Tellez went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most home runs Ortiz has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Ezmyah Dominguez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Cobre kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive games.

Cobre's win bumped their record up to 16-8. As for Sandia Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 22-6.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Cobre will square off against West Las Vegas at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Indians 4, the Dons 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Sandia Prep, they will face off against Tularosa at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
