Softball Recap: Glendale Prep Academy Takes a Loss

Glendale Prep Academy couldn't beat Wickenburg on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the third inning. The Griffins took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wranglers. The Griffins were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wranglers earlier this season, when they won 9-3.

Raegan Rockey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and seven unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ally Moore and Sophia Nakachi stepped up to the plate in a big way. Moore got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Nakachi went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that Nakachi has hit this season. Karin DeStefano was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Glendale Prep Academy and nudges their season record down to 9-6. As for Wickenburg, they pushed their record up to 11-11 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Glendale Prep Academy will venture away from home to take on Trivium Prep at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wickenburg, they will head out to face off against Mountainside at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wranglers are facing the Wolves at the right time seeing as the Wolves are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
