Softball Recap: Delran Takes a Loss

If Delran was riding high fresh off their 7-1 takedown of Audubon on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bears fell just short of the Gloucester City Lions by a score of 2-0 on Monday. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Bears were not able to get on the board.

Olivia Powell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits.

At the plate, Delran saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ellie Haskell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

The defeat snapped Delran's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 12-7 record. As for Gloucester City, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Delran will take on Northern Burlington at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Gloucester City, they will square off against Audubon at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lions 3.9, the Green Wave 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
