Softball Recap: Mount Notre Dame Wins Going Away Against Mercy Mcauley

Mount Notre Dame barely beat Mercy McAuley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Mount Notre Dame put the hurt on Mercy McAuley with a sharp 11-2 victory on Monday. The win continues a trend for Mount Notre Dame in their matchups with Mercy McAuley: they've now won six in a row.

Audrey Gildea was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. She also put up two walks, which were her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grace Pitzer, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Maddie Robinson also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.

Mount Notre Dame always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mercy McAuley only posted an OBP of .261.

Mount Notre Dame's record now sits at 3-1. As for Mercy McAuley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.
