Preview: Ellicott Thunderhawks vs. Rye Thunderbolts
Ellicott has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Rye Thunderbolts at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Ellicott will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 319th, while the Thunderbolts are ranked 134th).
Last Saturday, Ellicott was beaten by the Huskies 80-23. Ellicott was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-15.
In what's become a running theme this season, Rye gave their fans yet another huge victory on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 53-28 margin over St. Mary's.
Ellicott dropped their record down to 0-15 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Rye, their win bumped their record up to 10-5.
Ellicott strolled past the Thunderbolts in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a score of 56-40. Will Ellicott repeat their success, or do the Thunderbolts have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
