Baseball Game Preview: Bartlett Indians vs. Oxford Pirates

Bartlett hasn't had much luck against Oxford recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Indians will welcome the Pirates at 3:30 p.m. Bartlett is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

Bartlett will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Southbridge on Monday. The Indians blew past the Pioneers 10-2. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Pioneers: they've now won six in a row.

Kole Sebastyanski made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adam Phillips, who went 2-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Luigi Villegas was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Oxford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against Auburn, falling 11-0.

Bartlett's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Oxford, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.
