Baseball Recap: Ontario Christian Wins Going Away Against Valley View

Ontario Christian made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Valley View, but still couldn't quite topple them. The Ontario Christian Knights blew past the Valley View Eagles 7-1 on Monday. The Knights' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Tyler Fernandez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up six Ks. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nate Morales, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. He also put up two RBI, which were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brady Dinco, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

The win got Ontario Christian back to even at 2-2. As for Valley View, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Coming up, Ontario Christian will take on Centennial in a tournament on Wednesday. Centennial is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season. As for Valley View, they will be taking part in a tournament against Cajon at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Valley View's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Cajon's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
