Baseball Recap: Pleasant Ridge Snags Sixth Victory in Last Eight Games

Pleasant Ridge was handed a seven-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Jackson Heights Cobras 4-3. This was payback for the Rams, who suffered an 11-10 loss the last time these two teams met.

Josh Herndon was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. He has become a key player for Pleasant Ridge: the team is 3-0-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Hank Lance, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Pleasant Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-5-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Jackson Heights, they dropped their record down to 2-7 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Pleasant Ridge beat the Cobras by a score of 12-2 later that day.
