Garland Christian Academy moved up to 1,015 from 1,044 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in TAPPS Division III District 3. The Swordsmen were able to make the jump by besting Highlands 55-16.
Garland Christian Academy made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,817 from 12,248. The advance stemmed from a 55-16 victory over the Blazers last week.
First Baptist's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Max Partlo threw for 442 and six touchdowns and Garrett Black had 213 yards receiving. On the ground Justen Tatum chipped in 60 yards.
The Saints' Partlo and Trae Hart have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Partlo has thrown for 2130 yards this season, while Hart, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 64 catches for 1087 yards. Rockwall Christian's Daniel Rorie leads the league in rushing yards with 423.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when First Baptist takes on Highlands. Jason Lovvorn's team is in first place, while Tyrone Breaux's team is in fourth place.
The Swordsmen led TAPPS Division III District 3 in scoring this week after putting up 55 points on the Blazers.
