Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Vista PEAK Prep's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Vista PEAK Prep ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Denver South Ravens 6-5. That's two games straight that the Bison have won by just one run.

Karter Robertson made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Vista PEAK Prep: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-7 otherwise.

Robertson wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Abel Salinas, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Vista PEAK Prep lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Vista PEAK Prep is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Denver South, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vista PEAK Prep will square off against Thomas Jefferson at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Denver South, they will take on Rangeview at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Ravens are facing the Raiders at the right time seeing as the Raiders are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
